Forester

The full-time Forester non-exempt position is responsible for forestry initiatives. This position would also perform maintenance work as a Public Service Worker in the Streets division.

a.    Valid driver’s license.

g.    Thorough knowledge of procedures, policies, and practices of tree planting, maintenance (wrapping, guying, watering, mulching, weeding), pruning, trimming, disease inspection removal requirements and options.
h.    Thorough knowledge of shrubs and landscaping, design and maintenance.
i.    Knowledge of root graft barrier trenching.
j.    Ability to operate light and heavy equipment such as a: wood chipper, bucket truck, loader, chainsaw, misc. tree trimming equipment, and etc.
k.    Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
l.    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, departments, and the public.

Cook -River Oaks

The part-time cook positions at River Oaks Golf Course include days, nights and weekends and require excellent customer service and presentation of food and beverages in the Clubhouse. This position is responsible for the preparation of all food menu and specialty items within the Clubhouse.

  • Starting Pay:  $13 to $15 per hour, plus tips for banquet events

The part-time dishwasher positions at River Oaks Golf Course is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for plates, cups, glassware, tableware, utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.

Utilities Maintenance Worker, F/T, 6 mos

The full-time, six-month Utilities Maintenance Worker with the Public Works Department will work mid-April through mid-October. Position responsibilities include general care and maintenance of well sites, fire hydrants, sewer structures and assisting the streetlight division in everyday maintenance. A high percentage of the job function is to operate as part of a mowing/trimming team, although many other duties will be expected throughout each season.  Applicants should be highly motivated, positive and able to work as a team.

Playground Leaders

The Playground Leader positions will be responsible for programming, planning and supervising activities for youth ages 5-13 years old.  Activities include arts and crafts, games, special events, and many other fun things.  Leaders will be assigned to work 40 hours per week.  All applicants must be a minimum age of 18.  Experience in a recreation leadership position is preferable.  Leaders should have broad knowledge of games, sports, and craft skills.  Must be able to work well with children and should possess good leadership skills.

Administration Intern

The Administration Intern will perform various responsibilities for the City Administrator designed to facilitate the intern’s training, learning, and experiential development in addition to their formal academic training. This internship should help students understand their obligations as professionals and as public servants.

The internship is designed to afford a student in Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field, an opportunity to gain working knowledge about the dynamics of local government and will integrate the intern as an operating member of the management staff, providing practical, real world exposure to an organizational/civil service environment in order to develop the necessary aptitude for obtaining employment in the local government sector.  This internship encourages and promotes interest in all areas of local government employment, concentrating on local government administration, communications, and human resources activities for learning opportunities and practical experience.

Salary: $11 to $13 per hour
