Since 2007, the City of Cottage Grove has presented the Green Garden Award annually to a residential and commercial garden nominated by residents.

Nominate anyone you know with a green thumb - including yourself - that deserves a little extra attention for their efforts. Nominate a business if you think their landscaping presentation is speculator.

Nominations are accepted for both residential and commercial properties and are due by the end of July.

The commercial category includes all Cottage Grove organizations such as businesses, churches, schools or nonprofits.

The four categories (entryway and container design for residential only):

  • Entryway - Based on overall appearance from the street.
  • Container Design - Based on the overall container/potted plant.
  • Residential - Based on the overall appearance, plant variety and arrangement, uniqueness, creativity, environmental aesthetics and upkeep of the entire garden.
  • Commercial -  Based on the overall appearance, plant variety and arrangement, uniqueness, creativity, environmental aesthetics and upkeep of the entire garden.

All nominated properties must be within Cottage Grove. Contestants may not win in consecutive years.

Winners are announced at a City Council meeting.
